001 @ Video | Action for Route 31

[It's raining, it's pouring. This really put a dent in the Idol Caravan's traveling plans, but Ryo's making the most of it. Shit happens, after all. Even if it does make some things more... difficult. So the feed opens to the novice idol sitting in a tent, spreading some mayonnaise on a slice of bread. In the background are a Ralts and a Rattata happily muching on some diagonally cut sandwiches that seem to contain some whipped cream and Oran berries. It seems that the PokeGear has been set on the ground, so that Ryo's "cooking" duty can continue during the broadcast.

Ryo lets out a small sigh.]

I feel bad that I can't make a nicer meal for everyone... but I suppose there's no helping it with this kind of weather. Haruka-san and everyone, I'm sorry.

[After glancing back at the Pokemon stuffing their faces, Ryo turns to look at the camera again with a smile.]

The berry sandwiches I made seem to be a hit, though~ I'm glad.

Anyway, I'd like to ask about these Pokemon Gyms, since I'm thinking of challenging them once I'm strong enough. How should I prepare? And how do I know when I'm ready?

[Ryo glances to the side, mumbling in a barely audible and lower pitched voice---]

Then again, I really wonder if this is the answer to my---

[Suddenly, that train of thought is interrupted when the Ralts and Rattata begin to fight over the last sandwich. Ryo quickly drops the unprepared sandwich in hand and picks up the PokeGear to turn it off, since trying to diffuse this situation is probably not something people should see.]

RITSU, NEZU, NO----!

[The camera's view rapidly flies from one crazy angle to another, with a loud "GYAOOOOOOOON!" ringing through the tent before the feed shuts off.]

[Oof! Suddenly Ryo is sporting a loli as a back accessory. Unlike the angry beast known as Ritsuko, Ryo doesn't... actually have the courage heart to pry the girl off. Though---]

Who is Ryohime?! [Not sure if this is an upgrade from 'Onee-chan'! Anyway, better do something about the two Pokemon playing tug-o-war with a sandwich.]

U-Um! Please, you two! I'll make more, so please stop fighting...!

[ suddenly Ami does a dramatic flip off of Ryo's back!! Also Kouhai suddenly appears next to her and poses with her and there is a pretend yellow backdrop and fireworks and stuff, except that stuff doesn't really exist.

She points to the two Pokemon with the iron will of a Steelix. ]

[amiroll]

... Boom.

[ Ami holds up her finger and blows it like a revolver..

and turns to walk away. Kouhai looks confused but follows. ]

[Thankfully, the crisis had been averted by the time Ryo answers. He seems pretty tuckered out, though.]

Barely... Thankfully splitting the last sandwich in half was enough for them to stop fighting. I didn't think Pokemon could be so territorial with food!

If you want a detailed guide on all the gyms, I can pass one your way. But for Falkner specifically... Well, you're gonna want to hit at least level thirty before you even think of challenging him. It'd also help if you pick up an electric, rock, or ice type, since he's a flying type leader.

[Ryo puts a hand under his chin thoughtfully.]

You seem to be really experienced with this! It's like you're an expert or something.

Well, I've had two years to learn the ropes, and I've beaten all sixteen gyms. Guess that counts as expertise.

Type definitely is a huge part of battles. That and status effects.

[When the feed finally turns back on, the Pokemon are peacefully eating their lunch. Though Ryo looks incredibly tired.]

L-Lacus-san... I'm barely okay. It seems splitting the last one in half worked. Though, I really didn't expect the people I'm traveling with to make the situation worse...

[ They haven't been here for long and they want to already research the gym leaders? She's been here for a while and still hasn't worked on it. For a moment, she feels underwhelmed.

It's quickly gone when she realizes just how much work all of that would be! ]

Miki heard that you need to get a really good team with various types of Pokemon.

Really? I think I get it... The gym leaders all focus on one type, so I should exploit that. I should catch a lot then. As expected, you're very knowledgeable, Miki-san~

Hee, well Miki has to take care of everyone that's showed up late here. It's Miki's responsibility as the Eldest PokeTrainer! [ She just made that title up on the spot alright. ] Oh... Miki's PokeTeam?

[ Where does she even begin? Miki's admittedly picked up a lot of Pokemon, but they've been so helpful! ]

Miki first started with Chiki, although since she's evolved, her name really doesn't match anymore... Oh! But Shiki looks like what Chiki did!

[ There's the sound of scrambling and a blurred video feed as Miki takes more effort in setting up the PokeGear for a clear picture of the area she's in. It looks like a city set up near the ocean judging by how many NPCs there are in bathing suits nearby. Miki herself is dressed in clothes she must have picked up somewhere in the city, hardly standing out herself. ]

Let's see, Miki has eight Pokemon, but can only show off six! Are you ready for this wonderful show? [ Whipping out a Pokeball in hand, she throws it to reveal this Pokemon floating in the air. ] Miki's newest team member is Chimecho!

S-Sorry you had to see that, Maria-chan. My Pokemon were fighting over the last berry sandwich I made for them...

They must've been re-ally hungry to fight so much for it, uu-..! [ she gasps. ] Maria's friends never fought that much for a sandwich!

[ all makoto really heard was screaming, so she comes running into the tent in a rush despite the rain still pouring outside. as a result, she's quite wet when she makes it there. ]

What's going on!?

[ it's then that she notices the two pokemon fighting over food, and- ]

Hey, that's our lunch!

[ rather than defusing the situation, makoto seems to escalate it by jumping into the fray herself... ]

[Well, this is totally getting better. Once Makoto barges into the tent, Ryo ends up letting another "GYAOOOOON!" when he gets splashed by rainwater.

And now, Makoto has decided to do battle with Ryo's Pokemon over lunch that isn't actually supposed to be theirs. Okay, he'll try calming them all down again---]

[ she's too embroiled in this life and death struggle to even hear ryo at first.

she does, and glances in her direction, before nearly having a loose sandwich snatched back away from her by one of the pokemon.

which of course gets her attention squarely right back where it had been to begin with. sorry ryo... ]
